Don’t Just Recycle - Reuse

It is great that you recycle your used paper products.  But how many of those items could you use again before you recycle them?

So you like your paper shopping bags?  Be sure to re-use them as trach can liners, lunch bags, bags to take old clothes to GoodWill, etc.

Plastic shopping bags often can be returned to the store for recycling.  They can also be used for small trash can liners, waste bags for your car or boat, etc

Probably the biggest use of paper in the home today is around holidays and parties.  Wrapping paper has the shortest usage lifetime of all the papers.  Be sure to wrap smart.  Use recycled paper where possible.  Better yet, re-use paper such as comics or butcher paper to wrap gifts.  Avoid buying wrapping paper made from plastic or combination materials.  These are often not accepted by recyclers.  Try to save paper after the holidays to reuse throughout the year.

Most people only print on one side of the paper before it is discarded.  If the printout is just for you, why not print your next project on the other side?  Or you can use the blank side for jotting down notes, shopping lists, or to let your kids be creative.  many of us don’t need to buy five different varieties of paper to do five different things.

Paper is cheap.  lets keep it that way by re-using where ever we can.  Not only will you save yourself some cash, your saving the environment as well.
